After 9 years together, we decided it was time to make it official. We signed a self-uniting marriage license on November 18, 2017 at Rollo's family's house in Kimberton, Pennsylvania with just our immediate families present. It was a perfect, low-key evening but we missed celebrating with the other people we love. So, now we want to celebrate with you, our friends and family, in Ketchum in August!

What: A casual evening out Warm Springs Road with good food and music.
Where: The Basers' backyard (pictured) out Warm Springs Road in Ketchum, Idaho.
When: Drinks and appetizers at 5:30, dinner at 7:00. Buses will start running at 5:00 from the park-and-ride at the YMCA — SEE BELOW!
What to wear: Whatever you are comfortable in! We'll probably be in jeans or something equally casual. If you're not familiar with summer in the mountain west, it will most likely be warm during the day but temperatures will drop at night, so bring a warm sweater or jacket!
Food: Let us know if you have any food restrictions or allergies that we should be aware of. We’ll have plenty of food for both vegetarians an carnivores.
Getting there: Because we want you to be able to enjoy yourselves without worrying about driving five miles of dirt road at the end of the night and because we have limited parking, we will be providing buses to pick everyone up in town and bring them out to the house. There’s no cell service or Uber available at our house, so please take one of our shuttles if you’re staying in town.
If you have extenuating circumstances and need to drive, let us know and we’ll make arrangements for parking for you. Our address is 969 Warm Springs Road, Ketchum, ID 83340 (https://goo.gl/maps/G9TsoSTh3wo). If you’re familiar with Warm Springs Road and really want to drive, just know that you may have to park by the hot springs and walk (or catch a ride) back down to our house.
Trust us — if you’re staying in town, taking the shuttle will be better than driving.
PICK UP LOCATION: The park and ride at the YMCA in Ketchum, located at 101 Saddle Road (https://goo.gl/maps/n6BwB22Hqz32). Please park on the YMCA end of the lot, as the other end is condo parking. The YMCA is within walking distance of most places in town and there’s plenty of parking there.
PICK UP TIME AND DETAILS: Starting at 5:00 pm on Saturday, buses will leave the Park and Ride as they fill up. It’s about a half-hour drive out to the Basers’, so get there a bit before 5:00 so the shuttles can get moving. The shuttles will pick up anyone who flags them down along Warm Springs Road — they’ll have signs in the window with the same design as our invite so you can identify them.
Buses will run until everyone has made it out to the house, and one will remain stationed at the house throughout the party in case anyone needs to get back to town. Buses will start running back into town in greater numbers as the evening winds down.
Questions? Email or call Charlie or Barbara. Charlie: charlie.baser@gmail.com / (208) 721-1367; Barbara: barbarastoll@me.com / (208) 721-0611.
The route along Warm Springs Road starting at the YMCA in Ketchum until the pavement on Warm Springs Road ends (NOT the Baser's’ house). The Basers’ house is 5 miles past this. There is a good turn out for parking a number of cars right where the pavement ends and the dirt begins, if that’s more convenient for you.
Close up of where the YMCA/Park and Ride is
What: Rollo's family is hosting a casual get together. We will be grilling (salmon right from AK!) and have plenty of drinks, so stop by for as long or short as you’d like.
When: 5:30 on Friday, August 10
Where: Wood River Group Overnight Area — a pretty campsite on the Big Wood River just north of Ketchum.
More info here: https://www.recreation.gov/camping/wood-river-group-overnight-area-tent-only/r/campgroundDetails.do?contractCode=NRSO&parkId=70358
And map link here: https://goo.gl/maps/rtpWQeSo6Cm
How to get there: From Ketchum, take Highway 75 north for 10 miles. Turn left at the Wood River Campground sign. Stay on the main campground road for a short distance until you reach the group area parking lot on the right side of the road.
Other stuff: This site is really convenient to some great fishing, hikes, and mountain bike rides so you can come join us right from recreating if you’re in town on Friday — we don’t care if you’re sweaty.
You can fly or drive, depending on where you're coming from and how much time you have! Sun Valley has put together a comprehensive page on travel to Ketchum/Sun Valley: https://visitsunvalley.com/getting-here-around. Sun Valley and Ketchum are basically synonymous, so directions to Sun Valley will also essentially get you to Ketchum.
By air: If you're flying, the easiest, though often more expensive, option is to fly into the small Sun Valley airport, which is located in Hailey, Idaho, 11 miles south of Ketchum.
The more affordable, but also more complicated, option is to fly into Boise, which has a larger regional airport, and then make the 3 hour trip northeast to Ketchum by car or shuttle. You can rent a car at the Boise airport or take the Sun Valley Express (https://www.ctcbus.com/sun-valley-express-powered-ctc2). Here are driving directions from Boise to Ketchum: https://goo.gl/maps/YB91QuHoW952
Ketchum has a remarkably good bus system, so it is possible to do without a car, but you might find you have a hard time getting out of town itself to explore the best parts of our area.
By car: If you're going to drive, Ketchum is roughly 12 hours from Denver, 12 hours from Los Angeles, 5 hours from Salt Lake City, 5 hours from Missoula, and 36 hours from most of the east coast. It can be a schlep, but road trips are great and it's a beautiful trip however you drive in.
Camping: There is abundant and beautiful camping in the Wood River Valley, including just down Warm Springs Road from the Basers' house. Get in touch with Charlie if you have questions about where to camp (charlie.baser@gmail.com / (208) 721-1367)
Hotels: For those who are not inclined to camping, we've reserved a block of hotel rooms at Hotel Ketchum and the Tamarack under "the Baser/Scott wedding party." Other good options are the Limelight Hotel and the historic Sun Valley Lodge and Sun Valley Inn. Another option for those looking to save a bit of money is the Hot Water Inn: https://www.lonelyplanet.com/usa/ketchum-sun-valley/hotels/hot-water-inn/a/poi-sle/1574200/362126. It’s in a great location and was recently started by friends of Charlie’s.
Airbnb/VRBO: Lots of options!
We hope you'll get some extra time in the Wood River Valley to play. There is SO much to do, but here are some of our favorites. We’ll keep updating this page, so check back as August gets closer!
Fishing: the Big Wood, the Big Lost, the Salmon, Warm Springs Creek, Silver Creek, the Boise, and tons of smaller streams are all readily accessible. Silver Creek Outfitters and Big Lost Outfitters, our local fly shops, can get you set up and even take you out on a guided trip. And if you want to go out on your own, here are some fishing access maps - http://silver-creek.com/river-access-maps/
Hiking: Some favorites are Taylor Canyon, the Lake Creek/Fox Creek loop, the Bald Mountain Trail, Proctor (all close to town), Norton Lake, Miner Lake, Mill Lake, Baker Lake (easy — good for kids), Pioneer Cabin, Summit Creek, Alice Lake, Fourth of July Lake (easy — good for kids), and Kane Lake (harder to access — need 4WD and high clearance). Here is a pretty comprehensive local trail map where you can see conditions and how to get to trailheads: http://summertrailink.bcrd.org/. There are also a few great books about hiking in the area that you can pick up locally (or borrow from us).
Mountain biking: so many trails from easy to difficult — reach out to Charlie and Rollo for ideas if you want to ride and aren’t familiar with the area. More info on options and conditions at http://summertrailink.bcrd.org/.
Golfing: There are four golf courses in the Wood River Valley — the Big Wood Golf Course, the Sun Valley Golf Course, the Elkhorn Golf Course (technically part of Sun Valley), and the Valley Club Golf Course. Here’s some more info: https://www.sunvalley.com/things-to-do/golf, https://www.bigwoodsportspark.com/, and http://www.thevalleyclub.org/.
Summer Symphony: Sun Valley has an awesome free summer symphony series that will be going on the weeks before and after our party. Bring a picnic and sit out on the lawn drinking wine and listening to music. Dates and details here: http://svsummersymphony.org/orchestra-festival/
Day trip on the Salmon River: take a day trip rafting the beautiful Salmon river. Here are some companies you can take a trip with: http://www.whiteotter.com/index.php, https://therivercompany.com/, https://sawtoothadventure.com/1-day-rafting/, and https://www.whitecloudrafting.com/.
Hang out at a lake: Redfish Lake, Alturas Lake, and Stanley Lake are all a quick drive over Galena summit and great places to hang out, read a book, splash around, and have a beer. Redfish is the most developed (and popular) with a lodge, restaurant, and boat rentals.
If you’re bringing your dog, pretty much every trail in the Wood River Valley is dog-friendly, but there is also an awesome dog park on Warm Springs Road (formerly the Warm Springs Golf Course). For more info, google “Ketchum dog park.”

Here are some photos from our wedding!
We’re not going to have a photographer around, but we would love it if you would share any photos you take with us (and everyone else).
We’ve set up a place to share photos at www.dropevent.com. You don’t need to sign up or download any apps – just go to https://dropevent.com/gallery/charlieandrollo or email your photos to charlieandrollo@dropevent.com.
All we want is your presence (really, truly), and we understand that travel to Ketchum can be expensive. If you really want to get us something more than yourself, we have set up a fund to help us with some projects we are currently working on and things we are saving for. Chief among our projects is renovating a 1976 Airstream Argosy trailer (pictured) that we recently bought. It's going to be a time-consuming and expensive process, but one we think will be lots of fun to dive into and will leave us with a place of our own when we're in Ketchum. We also hope to save for a raft so we can more easily get out on Idaho's beautiful rivers and to buy a house when we're finally living in the same place again. Here's a link to a page with our fund and a few things we'd like for those who want to get us a gift and prefer to give tangible items: https://www.myregistry.com/giftlist/charlieandrollo.
